6.10 - 21.10 Carretera Austral - La Famosa

We cycled on the Ruta 40 again, there was wind (luckily mostly from the back),
nice views on snowcovered mountains and into the vast countryside.

One really nice thing with biking in the Pampa is, there is nearly no traffic!

The Fantastic Four on the Forty : )

Breakfast at the roadside.

Our last campground on the Argentinian side.

There we met two more cyclists. Victoria and Cameron from Florida.
They are on their way south too.

We crossed the border and found a perfect campspot where three tents easily fitted and had the perfect view on this incredible mountain.

Waiting for the bus : )
The weather so far is great, a lot of sunshine and great views of the stunning landscape.

There she is: Chiles queen of the roads, the Carretera Austral!

We are still early in the season and that means not only cold nights, it also means there are nearly no other tourists and we often have the campgrounds for us alone! In summertime (December to March) hundreds of tourists and also cyclists go down beautiful Patagonia..

Wild huge rhubarb - Nalca!

It´s pancake time - Resting day in Puyuhuapi.

We continued alone, in the rain and were lucky to find this abandond house on the side of the road to pitch up our tent inside.

View of Valle Ibanez with the small village Villa Cerro Castillo.
A good place to hike and to sit out the snow... yes, today it snowed!!!
