Nearly 8 months ago we were in Lisboa!
There were lot of Landslides on the way to Loja and further south.
That was also a reason we decided not to stay in the mountains and to go direction coastal Peru. We wanted to escape the bad weather.
So then we enjoyed the last wonderful views....
... from the mountains...
... celebrated our mountaintops...
... ate lot of really unhealthy stuff (there was not much choice to buy food!)...
... and were happy after a great downhill seeing the first glance of Peru behind the ecuadorian bordertown Macará.

We are happy cycling in the flat again, making hundred km every day. Though here it rained a lot and the desert is green and lots of roads are flooded. They offered us a ride for 5 Soles per Person
(1,5 Euro). We took of the shoes and pushed the bikes!
Right now we are in Chiclayo. It is hot here!
As we came into the city we luckily met Giancarlos a member of the local Bikeclub, Chakrabike.(between us)
With him we had the perfect guide for the next days!!! He introduced us to his friends, we went to the beach and he made us some good peruvian food! Muchas Gracias Amigo por todo ;)

Peru - ein neues Land! Unsere Nummer Sieben auf dieser Reise, drei fehlen noch! Mit einem etwas mulmigem Gefühl fahren wir in das neue Land, haben wir doch so einiges Negeative über die "Küstenroute" gehört. Nicht so freundliche Menschen, viel Verbrechen, Überfälle auf Radler...
Doch die ersten Tage sind das absolute Gegenteil! Die Leute grüßen, rufen uns Gringo hinterher, freuen sich uns zu sehen. Auch die Landschaft ist sehr schön und abwechslungsreich und es ist flach!! So schön! Wir werden eingeladen, übernachten in einer Schule und treffen in Chiclayo auf Giancarlos, der uns die nächsten Tage in der Stadt begleitet. Er lädt uns zu einem tradtionellen peruanischen Essen ein (für Angela gibt es vegetarische Variationen, für Philipp gibts das berühmte Cebiche), wir fahren mit seinen Freunden vom Fahrradclub zum Strand und enstpannen uns ein paar Tage bevor es weiter geht, durch die Küstenwüste Richtung Trujilo. Leider gibt es hier viel Gegenwind und die Landschaft ist karg und öde. Unsere ersten Ruinen haben wir in Tucume besichtigt. Peru ist sehr reich an Geschichte und Tradition. Freuen uns schon sehr darauf noch mehr davon zu erfahren!
