We heard about the Hostel in the Forest in Savannah first and we decided to go there and stay a night. We came there on Friday and lot of people were there. The Hostel prohibites cell phones and computers in the community areas, that means everyone talks with everyone! We had a great time in met a lot of people.
The Hostel was found 39 years ago. On Saturday we had tea with Tom, the founder. He showed us the area and told us about his mission to build a place for people to be close to the nature because you can only care about something you know.
This was our cabin for two nights.

There is so much traffic and so many big highways that our Warmshower hosts in Jacksonville took us out of the city by car to the A1A the coastal highway.

Right now we are in Daytona Beach and guests of Judy and Dan. We met them end of September in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Seit 39 Jahren gibt es das Hostel im Wald. Tom, der Gründer, ein Mann mit Tausend Geschichten, lädt die Gäste des Hostels Samstags zum Tee ein. Er erklärt uns warum und wie dieser besondere Ort entstand. Es ist ein Ort an dem man zur Ruhe kommen kann, ohne Handy und Computer im Gemeinschaftsbereich und an dem man sich austauschen kann, musizieren, meditieren, gemeinsam essen, kochen und die Natur genießen! Leider hört man auch hier die Autobahn...
Nach zwei Nächten mit netter Gesellschaft fahren wir weiter in Richtung Florida. Der Sunshine State begrüßt uns mit eisiger Kälte.... Naja, so schlimm ist es auch nicht, aber wir haben Frost morgens. In Jacksonville sind wir Gäste einer schwedischstämmigen Familie. Göran fährt uns nach ein paar Tagen entspannen zur A1A, der Küstenstraße. Das Straßennetz ist so aufgebaut, dass man mit dem Fahrrad lange Umwege fahren muss um an sein Ziel zu kommen.
Von St. Augustine, der ältesten Stadt der USA fahren wir 100km geradeaus nach Daytona Beach zu Judy und Dan. Wir haben die beiden Ende September in Nova Scotia, Kanada auf der Fähre getroffen und sie haben uns zu sich nach Hause eingeladen. Jetzt lassen wir es uns gut gehen, wir baden im Meer, schwimmen Pool, werden bekocht und sitzen das schlechte Wetter aus!
