28.8. - 10.9. Montreal - Québec - New Brunswick

Montréal had and still has lots of industry.
But on these old towers they installed now a climbing wall!

Montréal

Québec City - A city with lots of charme and good beers! Cheers : )

Québec - The Castle

Sylvain our Warmshower Host!

A beautiful road with amazing views on St. Laurents River and through small villages mostly on bike paths... there is nothing more you wish!

Oh yes there is more!
Good company : )
We met Courtenay and Ian from Vancouver on a farm short before Québec City.
They travel cross Canada and make a movie about local food goingslowmovie.com
We shared the road for the next 6 days and together we celabrate our first 3000km in a beautiful microbrewery.

View on the St. Laurents River

Again but this time with rain clouds!

Florent from France - he goes the opposite way, Halifax to Montreal!
From there he will continue south, maybe we will meet him again in the US.

We could stay in an old potatoe farm house.
Ian and Courteney made an interview earlier with the owner of Covered Bridge Potatoe Chips, mjam!

Nagawic proudly presents the biggest axe in the world .... !
In New Brunswick the main industrie beside the potatoes is wood!
80% is forest in this province. Its also the only official bilingual province of Canada.

This is Andy. We met him in Fredericton.
He runs across Canada and promotes recycling.

Though the weather is quite nice, warm and sunny, the nights are really cold!
In the morning everything is wet and we have to wait for the sun to dry our stuff.

09.08 - 28.08 Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal

It feels like in the 80s! SATA Airline, Azores

At the airport, unwrap the bike and the bags.
Everything is fine, after two hours we are ready to roll into Toronto to our
Warmshower host Peter.
He and his friends welcomed us at 10pm with a good little Party!

Toronto - We stayed 3 days in this nice and multi cultural mixed city and acclimated good to the new continent!

Canadas East is full of beautiful lakes! After a couple of hours biking you mostly find a lake and hopefully a public acces (Canadians LOVE their private property!!) to wash away the dust and sweat of the day!

Winery in Ontario

Camping in the wild with some rain!

Ottawa, the capital of Canada

True words!

Bier rettet die Welt!
(Wir wissen nicht wie, aber es wird)

Again Ottawa - View on the St. Laurence River

Oops!

Approxametly 150 km before Montreal we could sleep in a Tipi.
At an old fish hatchery they offer survival camps and courses for picking wild food.
In the Tipi they usually prepare the found herbs and berries.

After more 200km on a bike trail (Le p'tit Train du Nord) we reached Montreal.
From there we will cycle along the St. Laurence River to Quebec City, the next big City on our way East.

18.7. - 9.8. Portugal

Erik has two broken spokes but no spokes to change...
So he changed it that they are on the opposite to each other.
He finally made it to Lisbon (200km, 3 days) with two broken spokes!

Next incident... a 3cm long nail in Philipp`s tire!

Route 666
The road of hell!!
It does not look like so bad, but it was!
The truck drivers overtake ALWAYS.

Cheerio! We made it!
Lisbon - 1150km from Hendaye!

We recognized pretty fast, that Lisbon is not a very bike friendly city.

One of the four (?) bike stores in Lisbon.
This one has a small vegetarian and vegan restaurant
and maybe the best beer you get in Lisbon.
Artesian IPA on tap :)

There are lots of constructions in Lisbon, but this one was the best!

A Moorish Castle in  Sintra.

The beautiful beach of Melides.

On a flew market in Lisbon : )

Our last night camping in Portugal.
Close to a vinery and cork oaks
and the railway line!!!

The last days before we will fly to Canada we spent at the house of Pia and Mario.

Erinnert uns stark an Mexiko!
